5 Lifesaving Wool Care Tips
Most of us have probably ruined a wool sweater or two. Anyone? Yes. So have we. This is probably because wool garments actually require way less care than you think. To try to solve this problem, we’ve listed 5 tips on how to take care of wool garments, in order to make them last longer. Just follow these few steps and you will do just fine.
Fold, don’t hang
Hanging woolly sweaters in the closet can actually wear the fabric down (and misshape it). Always fold woolly sweater and store in drawers.
Air often, wash seldom
Wool is naturally antibacterial and self-cleaning. Hang out to air in moist weather, and it will actually clean itself.
Hand wash/ gentle cycle
Hand Wash or wash in a gentle cycle. A regular program in the washing machine will destroy wool garments. Always dry flat!
Always wash with a detergent free of enzymes. Never use fabric softeners, ironically it makes the fabrics stale and hard.
Red cedar oil
Wool is a delicacy for moth and fur beetles. Keep vermin away by spraying show drawers and closets with red cedar oil regularly.
